Marinaded Swordfish with ouzo

Caption this: your vacations in Greece have sadly finished and you are daydreaming that you are sitting at a beachfront tavern, you are slowly sipping some ouzo and savoring Greek delicacies. Ouzo is Greece’s most famous alcoholic beverage and the spirit of Greek summer. And if you are already missing your Greek summer days, our Soul Chef  Georgia Koutsoukou has the perfect recipe for you that will bring the Greek summer to your table.  So let’s prepare some marinated Swordfish steaks with Ouzo!

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 steaks of swordfish (about 1 kg)
  • 4-5 tablespoons of Ouzo
  • ¾ cup of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • The juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 garlic cloves finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons of thyme
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper

Directions:

Wash and drain the marinaded swordfish steaks well.

Prepare the marinade:  Combine the olive oil with the lemon juice and ouzo and whisk well until homogenized. Add the finely chopped garlic, stir, and place the fish steaks in the marinade. Cover with cling film and leave it in the fridge for about 1 hour. Remove the fish steaks from the marinade and season with some extra salt and pepper. Cook on a medium preheated grill for about 7 minutes per side. Add a small pinch of salt and pepper and season with thyme!

Serve and savor Greece!
