Athens Layover Wine Escape is a unique culinary experience that can be tailor-made depending on how many hours you have to spend. The airport’s location in Spata, Mesogaia, means you are within easy range of various attractions, and sometimes all you need is just to get out and breathe fresh air, stretch out in nature, and taste local products even if it’s only for a few hours.
Mesogaia, which means “middle earth”, is a large geographical region of East Attica that is full of surprises and hidden treasures, waiting for you to discover them. This inland portion of the Attica peninsula offers a mosaic of civilizations with significant historical sites. Easily accessible from Athens, filled with fertile plains and crystal-clear beaches, the region of Mesogaia offers an attractive destination for day trips if you want to escape the busy city center or even if you have a layover at Athens International Airport.
Join us in an indulging tour in a beautiful countryside full of fig tree orchards, vineyards, pistachio trees, and vast olive groves. Frankish Towers and charming chapels.

"We had a five hours layover in Athens and a friend suggested Vouryia for a Wine tour. We wanted to enjoy the Greek sun before heading back to NY so we took the Wine Escape tour which was really an escape in a beautiful spring scenery. We enjoyed the cookies with must and the small stops we made before our wine tasting. Everything was seamless and we really enjoyed our time. It just made it harder to leave Greece! Thank you for your hospitality! See you next year!"

"While on our layover in Athens on April, we wanted to spend our time doing something that only Vourgia can offer in such a great taste. Savouring local products & the wine tasting were our favorite parts of the whole experience! Marina has the “know-how” since everything was so well structured & organized. Thank you for marking our last hours in Athens as favorite part of a beautiful trip to Greece!"
